P5 Camp

Hi! Long time no see!

Busy,I guess.There is lots to write now!OK!Let's start from my p5 camp.It was conducted on April,7 to 9,in MOE Labrador Adventure Park(is'nt?).It was so fun on the first day, we went to Sentosa and had an Amazing Race.I felt thirsty and tired.It was a surprise when my best friend,Nandhini,is supposed to be sleeping in our dorm.I slept in the upper bed(Nandhini,too!Opposite, Ok!)2nd Day was the scariest Ithought I will have a try on the flying fox.When it was my turn Ifelt my legs go wobbly it was scary to look down.Later, we have to do the general stations it was not scary.But, after it came the worst we have to do atleast one rope course.At first I felt okay!I took big big steps but when I looked down my legs went wobbly,I heard my good friend(Jayashree,okay she likes to talk alot) shouting for me,I felt encouraged and took one more big step and finished the course.I felt really really happy.There was noneof my best friends in the group I really missed them,aspecially Renuha as she was more faraway(Iwas in group 6(Helsinki)She was 11/12/13/14/15(Idon't Know)Nandhini was group 7(London) Jahsmin did not come to the camp.Later we practised for the campfire performance.We performed a dance for the Hot 'N' Cold song and made lots of cheers my throat was really paining,Idid'nt mind as it was too fun.We had our campfire in the open space but it started to drizzle as our principle lighted up the campfire.We moved to the hall and had our performances done.Oh Yes!I forgot after going to Sentosa we had our night activity(playing kidnap)I was nearly lost from the team but I catched up with them.It was so cool.The third day was revealing the result of Best Female Camper,Best Male Camper and the Best Group awards and taking photograhps and autograhps.I lost a few kilograms because of the nutritional food(seriously no junk food)and lots of excersize.Bye!Look out 4 some more posts.

Influenza A H1N1

Back with some BAD News!There is this flu outbreak in the whole wide world.It is more sicker than SARS!In Singapore,the time when there was SARs flu we co-operated well, but that was the old enemy this is the new enemy says, the government.It is..... Influenza A H1N1,ofcourse!H1N1 started in Mexico, then spreaded to other countries such as America,India,Turkey and Malaysia. The number of confirmed cases of the new Influenza A flu has climbed to 8,480 and the death toll has remained static at 72, the World Health Organisation said in its latest update on Sunday.


The confirmation of cases in India, Malaysia and Turkey brought the number of countries with confirmed cases of H1N1, commonly known as swine flu, to 39.

The vast majority of cases have been in Mexico and the United States.
On April 29 it raised its pandemic alert to 5 on a 6-level scale.

The virus is behaving much like a seasonal influenza strain, which kills 500,000 annually, by spreading rapidly and causing mainly mild disease, but severe illness in some people.

Mexico has reported 2,895 confirmed cases including 66.The United States has reported 4,714 confirmed cases including four deaths.Canada has 496 confirmed cases and Costa Rica nine cases, both with one death.The number of cases of H1N1 flu virus in Japan climbed to 17 on Sunday,mostof them are teenagers.Counterparts in China said the country's capital, Beijing, had its first case.

Singapore and other countries are conducting temperature-taking of all those coming from other countries and going to other countries in airports in order to prevent
H1N1 from spreading from other countries.New Dhelhi/India government,tightened screening of passengers from countries affected by swine flu a day after one person tested positive for the dreaded disease in Hyderabad and a mother son duo in Chennai were admitted with suspected symptoms of the disease.

A woman and her son, who has been studying in the US, were admitted to a government hospital in Coimbatore with suspected symptoms of swine flu.According to hospital sources, the 26-year-old youth, who was studying in a University in New Jersey, complained of fever and throat pain after he returned from Bangalore two days ago.

The symptoms of H1N1 is normal flus such as coughing,headache running-nose,fever and throat pain.Pls take this flus seriously and visit the doctor if you need to.

Annual Sports Meet

In my school we had a sports day.I attended it.I found it very tiring and very exciting to hear the winners.The most interesting part is that the Sapphires win for Three Years and we went the same postion for 3years(Sapphire,Topaz,Emerald(I am in),Ruby.My friends and I called this 3 years 'The Sapphire Occupation' and called the participaters 'Soldiers'.The least interesting thing was that we had to cheerlead in the hot sun(Sg is summer all year around).It was hot and I had Sore Throat for 3 days!

Fire Safety

Fire Safety is very important.Fire is very useful but when you use it in a wrong way,things get wrong too!Pls Don't play with Fire!When there is a fire in a building,example:School,Don't panic!Listen to your teacher's instruction and get movin' .Don't hide or take a elevator 'cause you may get trapped and the firemen could'nt find you!Stick together with your class(or should I say Teacher).Listen for further instructions and evacuate the building to a opening space,example:field.When you are trapped in a room (when there is fire of course),Close the door and put a rag or a piece of cloth to block the smoke to come in(it can affect your breathing),Don't jump out of the window try to ask for help or if you have a hp with call the fire station.When your clothes catch fire do these:STOP,DROP,ROLL(cover your face while rolling to prevent smoke from entering your nose and for not damaging your face).

Reading

In our school,we have a morning silent reading.I like it because we will start the learning day with some intelligence and it is also to start by a easier activity.I love to read.By reading easily we could learn some new words and the structure of sentences.I like to read Geronimo Stilton Books,Jean Ure books,Megastar Mysteries and Boxcar Childrens'.Reading will help me in school work because it will improve my composition writing and give my mind some refreshment.The school can encourage reading by setting up a small library in the class and to give atleast one period to read for the pupils.I will recommend Geronimo Stilton Books because they are funny and finger-licking good!(finger instead of whisker)Geronimo Stilton has soo much humour sense and imagination!i also like true Singapore ghost stories!bye!:)

Activities outside of school

Hi!

In school I have activities such as SINDA classes(My mother asked me to join since I don't have any home tuitions(the teacher never force me) but I like it) and English Drama Club(CCA).Well,outside school I have religious lessons in As-Saobireen Madrasah(Darul Makmur Mosque(Yishun).I go there on Sundays and on 2pm to 6.30pm.I think I ought to learn some things of my religion.We learn how to read our holy book,Quran,History of Islam(my favourite),Fiq(the steps we have to follow)and Ahlak(the rules of Islam).The begginers learn Iqra(basics(arab word for 'read') instead of Quran.I think this subjects help me lots when i am alive or or even dead.This activities does'nt affect my school studies.Sometimes I feel tired but not stressed!In my opinion, I think you have to take some outside of school activities atleast to kill time learning something than using it on other unnecessery things.

Passion For Learning

Passion for learning is something that you love to do and you can do that very well.It is necessary to have passion for learning to learn somethings.Some of my classmates and friends are a bit sporting unlike for me, I have never missed to go to the library(only I missed one day or what).Now I think I will try to be more like active(if I can).Well,I have a friend who is mixed race,His Uncle in Dubai is a director of Hindi movies.I think he has very good cooperation(I think this is how it is spelled) skills to cope with one another.I have a passion too!My passion is dancing, acting and singing.I think I probably grow up to be an actress because they have not only acting also dancing and singing(singing when you have permission only).I will develop my passion by taking classes or CCAs of acting(I already am in ENGLISH DRAMA Club in school),dancing(I take dance lessons from Mdm Yogas(school)when dancing in or out school)and singing.

My targets

This year our school had given us targets for our school subjects.They have given me:English A or A*,Maths B,Science B and Mother Tounge(which is Tamil)A*.I hope I will achieve the targets by studying and reading.(Actually,we already got our marks back ,I typed like this because I was to finish posting this in Feb.Nevermind!).....I got it,I got:English 28/50 1/2(28 half don't know which rank)Maths:35/50 1/2 ,Science(I did'nt hope that much but anyway it was a bit easy):45/50,MT:81/90 1/2 and HMT(higher mother tounge):36/60(Everybody failed except for me and some others!Oh,man it was hard!).Bye!!!

What will I defend?

Even if I am far too young to do national service or even if I am a girl,who said that girls can't defend a country.Take Elizabeth Choy for an example,she did defend Singapore!As for me I will defend the greenery of Singapore!The greenery of Singapore makes a great difference from other Southeast Asia countries.I will help to pick up litters and keep the plants growing well even though I'm not a GREAT GREEN FINGER.I would also like to defend the multi-cultural heritage of Singapore!Go on Small Isle you can achieve it!

Festivals

Hi! I'm going to tell you all about my Religion's Festivals!My religion is Islam.We celebrate Hari Raya Puasa and Hari Raya Haji.

1. Hari Raya Puasa

We celebrate this festival after 1 month of fasting and asking lots of wishes!We Fast in the most Best month in the Islamic Calender,Ramadan (from 22nd Aug till 19th Sept 2009).In this month,our god,ALLAH multiplies 10 times more heaven points when we pray to him.This is the best month to swop lots lots and lots of heaven points and also to ask him forgiveness for the bad deeds.

This is Mekka.

2.Hari Raya Haji

We celebrate this festivals to sacriface goats and cows.Why we sacriface?It is because we believe that when we sacriface goats and cows ,they will guide us to heaven in a a very thin hair-like bridge.We exchange gifts with one another(such as money).We also can go to Mekka if we can afford the cost.

3.How did I celebrate this festivals?

Normally,we shower cleanly and put on new clothes ,ofcourse who would forget the mosque.I started fasting when I was 8 years old.The first day,I felt SUPER DUPER SLEEPY when my parents woke me up on 4 'o clock in the morning and must eat you know in the early morning!But,I got used to it very quickly!We also clean and decorate our houses very beautifully!Watch New Movies like Family Day accept that we go to mosques,we cook and eat scrumptious meals after starving our stomaches from morning till sunset for thirty days.When fasting, after sunset we say one Doa*(wish)to break the fast and eat.I would be very hungry.Our Malay neighbours exchanges foods with us for the fasting month.

For Hari Raya Haji,we also go to mosques and put on new clothes.But,last year, we celebrated in a different way from normally we celebrate every year.We went to my Grandma's house.We were soo late and tired because my brother was carsick and I did'nt have any time to sleep.We went to saciface goat first in my Grandpa's Restaurant.When I saw it I felt like vomitting!!and also the goat tried to come inside the restaurant(we were inside) as they were cutting in the back doorstep!We nearly jumped and screamed too!As the car was parked outside in the back we must be carefully go, if not we will step the goat.Bloody!It was awful but we have to sacriface!We later went to see the cows.So smelly place place(Malaysia),wet weather and muddy slippers!Horrible!Our cow from far looked soo thin and quiet.My relatives started making fun of the cow!Nasty!But,the cow showed the strength of it by shaking the whole shelter!OMG!But,it did'nt fall!Lucky!

Happy Chinese New Year To all Chinese Friends around the World!I know I am bit too late but anyway ,Hope you have enjoyed your holidays and your festivals!In my school,we saw a concert.In the concert we saw lion dance,a act by our teachers and a juggling performance.We also took pictures in our classroom.I'm wondering why my teacher never put the picture on the blog!My teacher also gave us hangbaos with sweets in it.She said that if we have something sweet in our hangbaos, we would have a sweet year!Chinese Mythologies and traditions are very different and interesting, have a look in the web or in a book!(I am a Muslim)
